Guide to Pismo Beach: Wine Tasting

While Grant and I were on our short trip in Pismo Beach, we decided to go wine tasting! There are so many wineries near Pismo. We decided to use and find a place or two with the best reviews.
For our little wine tasting adventure I wore my Brandy melville crop top (here are a few similar from the Nordstrom sale happening now! here and here)
Paired with my high waisted black maxi skirt (similar, similar)

First on our stop, and my favorite, was Kynsi Winery! We did a 5 flight tasting and had a wonderful time at this small tasting room. We sat outside and the people that worked there were very friendly and accommodating. Best of all the wine was good! Our favorite was the full bodied earthy pino noir.

Then we went to a larger winery: Tolosa. It was very very nice! Much more upscale and the prices were higher as well. They had a nice bar area inside and an outdoor area where we sat and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We did a 4 flight tasting.

We wished we had gone and explored more wineries but that was all the time we had on our short little trip to the Pismo area.

See my post from yesterday about restaurants to go to in Pismo and where to stay!

Guide to Pismo Beach: Restaurants

Earlier this week, Grant and I decided to take a little trip to Pismo Beach,CA. Although I had never been before, Grant used to visit his mother who lived there for a few years.

Since it is summer, there were hardly any hotel rooms available and I had been itching to finally try Airbnb! I take pictures for them almost daily and had never actually used their services!

I found us the BEST place to stay on a bluff by the ocean. Here is a link to the airbnb we stayed at:

The location was perfect! Walked right down to the beach, and from there you could walk to downtown pismo and the pier. No driving necessary.

The one thing I knew I wanted to do in Pismo was eat seafood! So here are a few of my favorite restaurants we visited and what we ordered!

We started the night at The Oyster Loft, I really wanted some fresh oysters! First we tried this New Englander Oyster Shooter ( vodka, Bloody Mary mix, and an oyster at the bottom!) they were so delishious!

Then came the oysters! We tried two varieties:

Instead of also having dinner at the oyster loft, we went downstairs to another restaurant that had great reviews, Wooly’s. It’s a bit more casual and you order at the front and they bring you your food.

We ordered the steamed clams and a seafood roll. The bread with the steamed clams was so good! Dipped in that broth! It was our favorite and we ordered extra bread for dipping. I also got a great cocktail at the bar called a beachcomber (tito’s vodka, banana liqueur, peach nectar, lemon juice, and Sprite).

In the morning we went to this cute coffee shop Mon Ami. I of course had to get the tuxedo mocha. White and dark chocolate!

We had to get Splash Cafe’s famous bread bowl clam chowder. Grant was very excited to take me here.
We decided to take ours to the pier and eat our clan chowder overlooking the ocean. The seagulls were definitely eyeing us.

Here’s a couple snaps I saved of our short trip:

My snapchat story gives a sneak peek into my post tomorrow about our wine tasting experience in San Luis Obispo!

4th of July in San Diego

As I mentioned in my previous post, Grant(the boyfriend) and I decided last minute to take a quick trip to San Diego to enjoy the nice weather and watch the fireworks! We left yesterday and booked an amazing room at The Keating Hotel from Hotel Tonight!

We were very delighted to find the room was awesome! We loved the location of the hotel, right across the street from The Tipsy Crow in the heart of downtown. They upgraded us to a City view room which was very nice, and we were on the 4th floor(top floor except for the PH level). Its a very small hotel designed by the makers of Ferrari and Maserati, which you could tell from the design. I really wanted to try their espresso machines in each room but for some reason this morning it had an error sign and was out of order. I didn’t feel like having the front desk fix it, so I didn’t get to try it. I loved the fact that the shower is actually in your room, and I also loved that the historic building was kept on the outside but they had new windows inside the current, to help block out noise and for proper insulation. I heard since the hotel is right in downtown, that it can get noisy at night, but since we were on the 4th floor I didn’t hear anything.

We went out to dinner last night at our favorite restaurant Ironside! I have mentioned it before in a previous post because we ALWAYS go there when we are in town. It’s so good! We tried the mussels in a bacon tomato broth this time, and had the lobster roll, and fresh oysters as always. We watched the fireworks from the Harbor park right down the street from the restaurant. It was very nice but a bit crowded. Since the trip was so last minute, we knew we wouldn’t be able to get into any of the rooftop bars in downtown.

This morning we slept in and went to the newly opened Liberty Public Market. This was really the one thing I had planned for our trip. We had a lobster roll and fried clams and fried scallops from Wicked Maine Lobster, coffee from Le Parfait Paris, Grant had a beer from Stone Brewery, and then we got a cheese plate to go from Venissimo Cheese, and some seasoned pork chops and skewers to grill at home from Liberty Meat Shop. Really an awesome place to have lunch or appetizers. I cant wait to go back to try more!

Here are links to the places we bought from inside liberty public market:

All White Everything

It’s fourth of July weekend! & boy am I excited for the long weekend. I made sure to not book anything this weekend in hopes of taking a little vacation with the boyfriend. Unfortunately, I never know his work schedule until last minute, but thankfully he’s got a few days off! Last minute, we have planned to go to San Diego and see those amazing Bay Firework show, off the Harbor in downtown. We got a great room rate through Hotel Tonight! I have had the app for awhile, but finally had the opportunity to use it! I will post another blog about our little trip. We decided to just spend Monday and Tuesday in San Diego, hopefully avoiding some traffic!

I have been obsessed with white lately! Especially since I just got an AMAZING spray tan from Shannon! If you are in the Palm Springs area and are in need of a good spray tan, she is THE BEST! Seriously! Her reviews are amazing and I found out about her through my real estate agent friend, Jillian Wills of Hom Sothebys. She is pretty fair, and she had gotten the most amazing spray tan from Shannon. I used to do Versa spa machine spray tans in West Hollywood, and this was on a whole different level. Shannon owns her own business and does each custom spray tan herself. First of all, she is the sweetest! Secondly, she really talks to you and goes through the mixing of your own personal color to get the best look. Everyone is different so it makes sense that no one should get the same color of spray tan. I really love how my tan turned out and will definitely be back!

I was excited to try the summer off the shoulder trend by purchasing this top by H&M. They unfortunately don’t have this one on the website anymore, but I’ve linked a few similar below. cute, simple, affordable. I am also wearing my new favorite Coach platforms! I purchased them through Off 5th, the Saks fifth avenue outlet. They reminded me of the Chloe espadrilles, except without the price tag.

Palm Springs Style Magazine Volume 2/Issue 2

Recently I was featured in the latest issue of Palm Springs Style Magazine! This issue had two different covers:

My work was featured twice in the magazine! First, I shot a Spring beauty spread. I had the pleasure of working with Katy (the owner of the magazine), Jen Martens (hair and makeup), Nicky Delgado – owner of local business The Fine Art of Design (wardrobe), local business The Jewelry Bar (jewelry), as well as the 2 sweetest models Kayla and Emma Davies.

We had such a wonderful little shoot inside The Fine Art of Design, using a backdrop Nicky had. Here are the final images from the magazine!

Not only did I shoot that beauty spread for this issue, but Katy also asked me to shoot a fun little page inspired by the hastag #ihavethisthingwothfloors. I got to go all over The Palm Springs area and take photographs of my feet at different places with interesting fun floors! This was a fun little shoot and now I’m officially a foot model 😉

You can get your own copy of the magazine at our local Barnes & Noble, Whole Foods, The Fine Art of Design, and many other local businesses, or online at Palm Springs Style Magazine.

Summer whites

Summer in Palm Springs is pretty hot. & by pretty hot, I mean it can get up to 120 degrees! Most people only live here seasonally and leave during summer. I am planning some trips for summertime and trying to spend more time in SD and LA, but I still live in my favorite place, Palm Springs.

Due to the hot weather, it can make getting dressed a little tricky! Easy light summer dresses are my favorite, especially when a bra is not required! White dresses are always difficult because you want to make sure they are not see-through!

here are some of my favorite easy white summer dresses: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

I’m still into the choker trend if you couldn’t tell 😉

vintage orange skirt

I’m a big fan of vintage clothing & I found this adorable vintage skirt for $3. I mean really??? $3!!!!!

I do admit, its very time consuming searching for cute vintage clothing that fits just right. I haven’t been wearing this skirt lately because right now its a bit on the tight side! But now that its almost summer I’ve been trying to “tighten up” and start regularly doing this thing called “exercise” so hopefully soon it will fit perfectly again. I’m usually more of a fan of A-line skirts then tight minis, but I love the texture and color of this little skirt!

I paired it with a cute choker I DIY’d (similar), my mango block heels (similar), my gold sunglasses (similar, similar), and my Daydreamer tee (similar). here and here are some similar looking skirts.

If you haven’t heard of DayDreamer before you must check put their cute T-shirts! The best thing about these shirts is how incredibly SOFT they are! If youre in Palm Springs, stop by their flagship store in uptown! I also have the “date night” tee which is plain. I wore it for coachella paired with this cute white fringe skirt (similar) – see my coachella post.

Coachella parties 2016

It’s that time of year! The Palm Springs area has been packed full of people from all over the world going to Coachella Fest. It’s crazy to me how big this festival is! I have only attended 2 years which is probably surprising since I was born and raised here, but I’m not a huge concert person. Plus the festival is so expensive! I loved the days when you could just buy 1 day for $100. Wish that was still possible.

A few years ago I discovered another whole side to Coachella Festival season, the parties! Company sponsored parties to be exact. To me, they are like their own mini festivals with free goodie bags, open bars, awesome djs, and celebrity sightings to boot.

This year I had the pleasure of attending multiple parties!

Thursday: collide kickoff party at the hard rock.

Had a great time drinking mandarin Moscow mules with absolut mandarin vodka. Delicious. They also have out “survival gear” which included a tillys fanny pack with the coolest portable charger that I used all weekend. Plus I got this awesome henna tattoo.

Friday: the dfm house and galore magazine x missguided party.

The party was partly sponsored by Snow Leopard vodka which was so good. They had also been the sponsors for the dfm house last year. So I was happy! Got a really cute snow leopard vodka towel.

Jill and I had the pleasure of meeting the tone it up girls! Karena and Katrina. They were so sweet and down to earth. It was funny because I had just sent Jill an invite to join the bikini series with me this year. I’m excited to get my body into shape.

The funny thing was, I had shot this house for Airbnb so I knew it was a smaller venue. This party had hair braiding bar and makeup bar, so we all got our makeup touched up and received beauty boxes full of goodies. They also had happy meals. It was definitely a quirky party.

Saturday: popsugar, the dip, Las Vegas WHHSH party.

The Las Vegas party was very fun. They had really good music and I ended up getting my boyfriend some boxer briefs from Related. They also had these virtual reality boxes that you can use with your iPhone.

Met a new friend in the Walgreens photo booth. & I took a few photos of her for her blog.

The popsugar party was probably my favorite. If you follow me on snapchat you saw much more of the party. They had raw salmon and tuna, awesome gifting suites(dsw shoes!), really good djs, a great group of people.

Sunday: vestal village.

Sunday fun day with @twincitiesdoc – thanks @vestalwatch

A photo posted by Zoë Michelle (@z0emichelle) on

Grant and I met up with Niki, her boyfriend, and their friend at Vestal Village for a few hours. It was nice to relax by the pool and kind of recover from the crazy weekend. Diane’s beachwear was handing out goodie bags and I also ended up getting a swimsuit.

Overall, my coachella weekend was a success! Had a great time not attending the actual festival. Although one of these years I think I might attend just so Grant can go( he’s never been!).

Crop Tops & Scuba

I was never a huge fan of crop tops, but somehow they grew on me.

Here is one of my favorite crop tops from Brandy Melville – discovered them when I lived in LA, and although every time I venture in one I am by far the oldest one there by 10 years, I still love how soft their materials are! Yes, even the girls that work there must be barely 16, and the girls who buy from there look 12! I cant imagine that all these little 12 year olds are buying the same things I am…but oh well! haha I hope I don’t dress like a 12 year old…

Anyways, this is also one of my favorite high waist-ed skirts. Its from Jcrew. The “scuba” material. I love the grey color and texture, and the flutter really flatters my figure.

My purse from Kenneth Cole Reaction was a last minute buy for my Hawaii trip, and it just so happens to be “scuba” material as well.

The shoes are old, made in Italy.

Beauty shoot with Oscar Modeling Agency

Oscar Modeling Agency emailed a a few weeks ago and asked me to shoot so,e of their new models in LA so I contacted an amazing makeup artist friend of mine Kelly Thorpe so we could collaborate together. We had such a fun shoot! We ended up picking two of their models to shoot: Nadine & Lakshmi.

We had a fun shoot at Kelly’s apartment. I was planning on shooting studio and brought my alien bee lighting equipment with me. Unfortunately my remotes weren’t cooperating! #photographerproblems. So instead we shot some beauty outside using natural light and this little box light Kelly had. It ended up working out very well! I tend to pull things together on the fly in natural lighting. It really is one of my skills. The girls loved the photos straight out of camera and even more so after they were completed.

Sometimes on a shoot, things can go wrong or unexpected. The great thing is, as long as you are calm and flexible, there is always an alternative solution.

Here are the final photos.
